New Beginnings at Stanley Arts

Feeling very thankful to Stanley Arts for having me as part of New Beginnings Programme to develop new work this week. During my time based in this beautiful Edwardian community hall, I worked on developing Moments To Midnight. In particular my focus was on looking at finite time in performance/life, how do we feel and behave when things get late, the possibility of recording pinpoint moments in time (inspired by Yoko Ono Morning Piece 1965), the phenomenon of 'life review', iconic moments of ending from popular movies or fiction, as well as how we can best prepare for an end + wider reflections on thematic layers that could exist within the piece. It was brilliant to feel the atmosphere in these historic spaces at Stanley Arts, at the heart of a community in South Norwood, reflecting on beginnings and endings experienced within these very walls during the life of the building.
