A gathering to think about and discuss climate grief in a welcoming space. This gathering takes a cue from the climate café, grief café and death café movement that has been growing in the past few years. Where these events attempt to address silence around grief and death, Climate Grief Café attempts to address silence specifically around climate grief.
This discussion event is for people who feel touched by climate grief and other climate emotions, as well as people who feel concerned about nature and climate more generally. It is also for people who have never heard of the concept of climate grief and are new to thinking about this. Everyone is welcome to this conversation and multiple experiences of how changing climate effects how we feel are valid.
What does it mean to live in a time of climate crisis? how does this effect our day to day life? Are there ways we can support ourselves and each other? This café takes place for small groups, facilitated by artist Katy Dye.
Climate Grief Café forms part research for new performance project Katy is beginning to research exploring ecology, ancient grieving practices and our human relationship to energy use.
