Sustainability Collaborator

I work as a Sustainability Collaborator with a range of artists/practitioners.

In this role I use my experience as an artist/producer to work with practitioners wishing to deliver their projects in more sustainable ways.

In collaboration with core team members, I assist with setting green goals that feel realistic, achievable and ambitious.

Following methods from The Theatre Green Book I help with practical/logistical work to ensure that green goals set are completed with rigour and meaning, for example:

  • Exploring how Sustainability can form a meaningful/impactful part of artists work.

  • Chairing whole team Green meetings.

  • Working with artists to explore how they can work with sustainable materials/discourage wastefulness in the process/delivery of their project.

  • Creation of Sustainability Action Plan with team outlining clear responsibilities and aims to be carried out across different departments.

  • Reducing energy use and planning around increased use of Public Transport across operations + slow touring models.

  • Communicating Green aims and logistics to project partners.

  • Green Evaluation, measurement of successes and advice on what can be improved in future.

I have worked as Sustainability Collaborator with artists including Penny Chivas, Fluer Darkin Presence Projects, Rod Sanchez The Goodluck Chior, Fay Guiffo and The Arden School of Theatre (where in 2023 I conducted a workshop with students on Greener approaches to performance making). This work has been funded by Creative Scotland's Theatre and Dance Touring Fund and Creative Scotlands Open Fund.
