Moments to Midnight

"I hope the exit is joyful and I hope never to return" - Frida Kahlo

Moments To Midnight is a performance investigating how humans respond to finite existence. Amid dancing like there's no tomorrow, ticking things off the bucket list, posing for our final picture, downing tequila shots and conjuring up ghosts, what feels helpful at the point of no return? What do we collectively want to leave behind?

The audience are playfully and joyously confronted with ideas of mortality, finality, escapism, liveness, personal power and human connection. Who are we under pressure? What is revealed to us when we lose control? The audience are invited to transgress norms and embrace ‘the end’, in ways that liberate, make us braver and usher in a new beginning.  Moments to Midnight draws on historical and present anxieties around the end of eras and what humans turn to when facing finality.
